Jacob Hazel, Jai Rowe and Adam Marriott were on target as Boston United claimed a brilliant away win on Saturday afternoon.
The Pilgrims accounted for Dagenham & Redbridge at Victoria Road, despite falling behind to Josh Rees inside three minutes.
Hazel equalised on 23 minutes, Rowe netted an absolute screamer eight minutes from time and substitute Marriott wrapped up the points with United’s third three minutes into added time.
United’s afternoon had got off to the worst possible start, with Dagenham taking an early lead. Ryan Hill was afforded too much time to cross from the left and REES got in front of Jordan Richards to head the ball home from six yards.
Rees subsequently turned another effort against the post as United lived a charmed life – but the Pilgrims gradually asserted themselves on proceedings.
Jimmy Knowles skipped away down the left to deliver a pinpoint cross, which was swept home by HAZEL just past the mid-point of the first half.
The visitors started to dominate the ball and were unfortunate not to take a second half lead when home keeper Louis Jones made an outstanding double save to deny Knowles.
With time starting to run out, Marriott and fellow striker James Gale were introduced from the bench and United reaped the rewards. Marriott’s drive was charged to safety, into the path of ROWE, and he unleashed an unstoppable 20-yarder which kissed the underside of the crossbar on its way in.
A nervy finale was averted when Gale flicked on Cameron Gregory’s long kick and MARRIOTT showed real poise to angle home United’s match-clinching third with 90 seconds of additional time to play.
