Works to improve the A16 in Sibsey will start in March.
Night-time road closure from 7pm to 6am (weekday evenings only) will take place on the A16, between the A16/B1184 junction in Sibsey and A16/Pilleys Lane junction in Boston from Monday 10 March for up to seven weeks.
A diversion route will be in place via A16 / A158 / A52 / A16, and vice versa, through Skegness and Spilsby.
Bridge maintenance works will be taking place on the B1183 Boston Road near Cowbridge from Thursday 20 March for up for two weeks during the Sibsey improvements. As part of this, a road closure will be in place here during the day, with the bridge re-opening at night while A16 Sibsey works are taking place.
Councillor Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: “As part of our major resurfacing programme for this year, we’ll be rebuilding a 2 ¾ mile long section of the A16 in Sibsey that’s starting to fail.
“This will be a huge piece of work, with the team expecting to use over 4,800 tonnes of tarmac and other road-building materials to complete the job.”
Councillor Thomas Ashton, county councillor for Tattershall Castle, said: “I’m very happy that these roadworks will be happening because this section of the A16 desperately needs to be repaired.
“I look forward to driving on the resurfaced road when it’s ready, and I know that others will enjoy the safer, smoother journeys too.”
Councillor Davies added: “We’ll be doing everything we can during the works to keep disruption to a minimum, including maintaining access for residents and emergency vehicles during our working hours.
“In the meantime, I want to thank everyone in advance for their patience.”
