The streets of Swineshead were filled with holiday cheer on Wednesday, 11th December, as the highly anticipated Swineshead Christmas Parade delighted hundreds of residents and visitors. Organised by the Swineshead Christmas Festival Committee, the parade featured over 20 beloved festive characters, including Santa Clause himself and the mischievous Mr. Grinch, who brought joy and laughter as they paraded through the village streets.

A highlight of the parade was a special stop at Swineshead Primary School, timed perfectly to coincide with the conclusion of the school’s nativity performance. The children were delighted by the surprise visit, giving them the chance to meet Santa, his elves, and other festive characters. It was a magical moment that will surely be remembered for years to come.

Chelcei Trafford, Chairperson and volunteer of the Swineshead Christmas Festival Committee, shared her excitement about the event: “This year’s Christmas Parade was an incredible success, and seeing the joy on the children’s faces, especially at the school, made all the hard work worthwhile. None of this would have been possible without the generosity of local businesses who donated to support the event, the dedication of our volunteers, and the amazing community spirit that Swineshead is known for. We’re so grateful to everyone who contributed and are already looking forward to Saturday’s Christmas Festival!”

The festive celebrations continue with the Swineshead Christmas Festival, taking place on Saturday 14th December, from 3pm in the Market Place, outside the Green Dragon public house. Organised by the Swineshead Christmas Festival Committee, the event will feature a variety of festive stalls, delicious food and drink, live entertainment, and opportunities to meet Santa once again.

One of the festival’s highlights will be a performance by the Swineshead School for Dames, featuring Santa’s Elves and the Grinch’s Granddaughters, promising plenty of fun and laughter for all ages. The committee has worked tirelessly to create an event that brings the community together while raising funds to ensure the continuation of Swineshead’s festive traditions for years to come.

The Swineshead Christmas Festival Committee extends its heartfelt thanks to all the local businesses that generously donated and to the incredible volunteers who have worked so hard to bring these events to life.
