The soon-to-open “Vincenzo’s Italian” is appealing for information after their front window was smashed in the early hours of Wednesday, 23rd October. The owners, who are preparing to open a family-friendly Italian restaurant on West Street, are disappointed but not deterred by the incident.

The branding, which has been displayed on the windows and signage for over a month, has sparked excitement in the town, with locals eagerly anticipating the opening. The owners said that the support from the community has made them confident that their restaurant will be warmly welcomed.

Between midnight and 7 a.m., a large stone otter was thrown through one of the windows, destroying the branding. Nothing was taken, leading the owners to believe it was a random act of vandalism.

In a statement, they said, “We’ve been blown away by the excitement from the community, and although this is a setback, we’re more determined than ever to bring something special to West Street.”

The incident happened just days before security shutters and CCTV were due to be installed. The police are reviewing CCTV, and a crime number has been issued.

Vincenzo’s is planning to open mid to late November, although a confirmed date is yet to be set.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the local authorities.
