A volunteer-led organisation, which supports emergency services and local authorities during incidents such as severe weather, flooding and fallen trees, says demand has risen sharply, creating an urgent need for additional support both on the ground and behind the scenes.
L-CAT is now actively recruiting “boots on the ground” responders, as well as volunteers to assist with administration, fundraising and recruitment, as the team continues to expand its operations across Lincolnshire.
All volunteers receive full essential training delivered by certified professionals, meaning no prior experience is required to get involved.
While having a driving licence, access to a 4×4 vehicle, or chainsaw experience can be beneficial, the organisation stresses these are not essential, and there are a wide range of roles available for people of all backgrounds, including those who do not drive.
A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Community Assistance Team said: “Over the past few months, we’ve seen a noticeable increase in the number of incidents we’re being called to support. From severe weather events to infrastructure challenges, our volunteers are out in all conditions helping to keep Lincolnshire moving.”
“As a volunteer-led organisation, we rely entirely on the support of our community. We’re now looking for more people to join us, whether that’s out in the field as a responder, or supporting us behind the scenes in roles such as admin, fundraising or recruitment.”

L-CAT responders have played a vital role in recent incidents across the county, working through the night alongside partners including Lincolnshire Police, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, Lincolnshire County Council Highways, Lincolnshire Resilience Forum and a selection of district and parish councils, to clear blocked roads, respond to emergencies and support affected communities.
With demand continuing to grow, the organisation is encouraging anyone with time to spare and a passion for helping others to consider volunteering.
