The A17 has now reopened following an incident earlier today in which a heavy goods vehicle struck the barrier at the level crossing at Swineshead Bridge.
Police were forced to close the A17 between Swineshead Bridge and Bicker Bar while the situation was dealt with, causing disruption for motorists travelling through the area.
According to Lincolnshire Police, the closure was put in place after the HGV hit the barrier at the level crossing at Swineshead Bridge. Emergency services attended the scene and diversions were put in place while the incident was cleared.
Traffic is now moving again after the road was reopened, although some delays may remain in the surrounding area as congestion eases.
Motorists travelling through the area are advised to proceed with caution and allow extra time for their journeys while traffic returns to normal.
