Runners are being urged to secure their place quickly for the 2026 Boston Running Festival, with just 33 spaces now remaining in the full marathon event.
The popular annual festival, taking place on Sunday 12th April 2026, was formerly known as the Boston Marathon and continues to attract participants from across the region and beyond. The event features four race distances: the full marathon (26.2 miles), half marathon (13.1 miles), 10k and a 5k fun run, offering opportunities for experienced athletes and first-time runners alike.
The Marathon and the Half Marathon start at Boston Market Place, whilst the 10k and Fun Run start at Central Park. The routes leave town and flow out through rural countryside passing through a number of small villages before heading back into town to the finish line at Boston College. The courses are on open roads and have been officially measured and certified by the Association of UK Course Measurers, ensuring full accuracy for competitive runners, many of whom obtain a Personal Best as the course is one of the flattest in the UK.
As well as encouraging last-minute entries, organisers are also appealing for volunteers to help make the day a success. Support is needed both with general event organisation and with managing water filling stations along the routes.
Kay Bonnell, Race Director, said: “The Boston Running Festival continues to grow year on year, and it’s fantastic to see the marathon once again close to selling out so far in advance. With just 33 places left for the full marathon, we’d encourage anyone thinking of taking part to register as soon as possible.
“We’re also very grateful to the many volunteers who give their time to support the event, and we would love to hear from anyone who can help this year, whether with marshalling or at our water stations. The festival simply wouldn’t be possible without the incredible community spirit behind it.”
With limited marathon places remaining and strong interest across all distances, runners are being advised to sign up soon to avoid missing out on one of Boston’s biggest and most celebrated sporting events of the year.
