Residents in Boston, Lincolnshire, are being urged to take extra care after the Met Office issued a Yellow Weather Warning for Ice, in force from midnight tonight until 10am tomorrow (Wednesday).
The warning highlights the risk of icy patches forming overnight into Wednesday morning, following rainfall that is expected to clear south-eastwards this evening. As skies turn clearer overnight, temperatures are forecast to drop, allowing ice to form on untreated wet surfaces.
The Met Office warns that conditions could lead to slippery roads, pavements and cycle paths, with a heightened risk of slips and falls, particularly during the early morning commute. While disruption is expected to be minor, residents travelling around Boston are advised to remain cautious.
Local advice encourages people to:
-
Leave extra time for journeys and avoid rushing
-
Use main roads and pavements where possible, as these are more likely to have been treated
-
Check road conditions and public transport updates before setting off
The warning remains under review, and residents are reminded that weather conditions can change quickly. Staying up to date with the latest forecasts and advice from Met Office and local authorities is recommended.
