Boston Town cruised into the semi-finals of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy on a bitterly cold night.
Blackstones joined the list of teams who must be glad to have seen the back of the Poachers this season.
Harrowby’s 6-0 defeat last week came after a 5-0 reverse a month earlier – and now Blackstones also found themselves suffering two separate thumpings at the hands of Chris Funnell’s side.
Matt Cotton and Harry Limb were the destroyers in the 7-0 league win at the Mortgages For You Stadium in September, Last night, it was Zak Munton who continued to celebrate his return to fitness with two more goals, bringing his tally to five in the last three matches.
Macca Burdass gave the visitors the ideal start when he fired home after just two minutes.
Munton then added two more before the break to cheer the travelling Poachers fans on a night when it was so cold even Funnell abandoned his usual baseball cap for a bobble hat.
Jordan Tate completed the rout early in the second half with his fifth goal of the season, matching his best ever tally in a campaign.
It’s the third time in the last four seasons that Boston Town have made it to at least the semi-finals of the Lincs Senior Trophy. Also in the last four so far are Grantham Town. The remaining two quarter-final ties are due to be played at the weekend: Harrowby United v Barton Town and Louth Town v Deeping Rangers.
