Lee Beeson rolled back the years as he helped Boston Town snatch a dramatic victory.

Driving rain had made playing conditions at Harrowby treacherous for both sides and it looked like the visitors might have to settle for a second goalless draw on this ground this season.

Beeson had theoretically hung up his boots in April 2024, but he keeps stepping back into the breach when the Poachers need him.

And deep in stoppage time he delivered a pinpoint cross for Matt Cotton to leap highest and head home the winner.

The veteran Beeson had already had an eventful evening. He had come on as a sub after only 41 minutes for the injured Pierce Hudson and then found himself sin-binned early in the second half.

It was no surprise that it was man of the moment Cotton who grabbed the all-important goal that ended Town’s four-match winless run.

He’s now scored a remarkable 19 goals so far this season in just 21 appearances.

The win sees Chris Funnell’s side moved back up to second in the table, behind Sherwood Colliery, who visit the Mortgages For You Stadium in 10 days’ time.

On Saturday (8 November), the Poachers are on the road again, this time at Belper United. Kick-off is 3pm.
