Specialist Explosive Officers have spent time investigating the object found at the development site on Rosegarth Street snd determined that the object, initially suspected to be an unexploded WW2 bomb, has been identified as a piece of clay piping.
Scene cordons have been since been lifted, and residents have been permitted to return to the properties, who were waiting patiently at a temporary rest centre located at Boston Borough Council’s Municipal Buildings on West Street.

Site cordons remain around the area, including Station Street, Lincoln Lane, Rosegarth Street and Tower Street.
Additional Explosive Officers have just arrived at the site of a suspected unexploded device.

As the night draws in, residents are still left with no access to their properties. An emergency meeting between Boston Borough Council and Lincolnshire Police is currently taking place to understand further a contingency.
For now, residents of Lincoln Lane, Tower Street and parts of Station Street remain within a cordon and access is not possible.

A 100-metre cordon has been put in place near Boston Police Station this morning following the discovery of a suspicious device.
Lincolnshire Police confirmed they received the report at 11:33am today (Monday 4 November) through their Force Control Room. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit has been called to the scene and is currently assessing the device.
Current road closures are in place on Tower Street, Station Street, Lincoln Lane and there is no access to Rosegarth Street Car Park
Officers are urging the public to avoid the area while investigations continue.
A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “A suspicious device has been found near Boston Police Station and a 100-metre cordon is currently in place. The EOD Unit have been contacted and they are assessing the device. Please avoid the area. We will provide updates as and when we have them.”
The incident is being logged as incident 165 of 4 November.
Residents and motorists are advised to follow official updates and avoid unnecessary travel through the affected area.
