Boston Borough Council has confirmed 44 new Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) across the borough, strengthening its commitment to protecting important trees and preserving the area’s natural character

The latest batch of orders was approved at the council’s recent planning committee meeting, following assessments of trees identified as having significant amenity, environmental, or historical value. TPOs make it an offence to cut down, top, lop, uproot, or wilfully damage a protected tree without formal consent from the council.

In addition to these latest orders, Boston Borough Council has also approved:

  • 13 TPO applications in May,
  • 3 in April,
  • 25 in February,
  • and 25 in January.

The 44 newly protected trees are located across a range of residential, commercial, and public spaces, including:

All affected property owners have been formally notified and provided with guidance on managing the protected trees responsibly.
