The Environment Agency has announced that the Boston Barrier will be closed to river traffic from Monday 2nd June to Sunday 15th June to allow for essential maintenance works.

During the closure, there will be no access through the barrier in either direction for river vessels. Matrix signs displaying “Barrier Closed” and red navigation lights will be in operation throughout the maintenance period to alert river users.

The Environment Agency confirmed it will be closely monitoring weather conditions, river levels, and tidal activity, and may adjust or suspend the works if necessary to ensure safety.

This scheduled maintenance is a vital part of ongoing efforts to keep the Boston Barrier in full working order and to safeguard the town against tidal flooding.

Residents and river users are thanked for their patience and understanding during this time.
