Over 2,100 runners took part in yesterday’s Boston Marathon UK (Sunday 13th April), filling the streets with colour, determination and community spirit in one of the town’s most anticipated annual events.

The full marathon and half marathon races launched from the historic Boston Market Place, while the 10k and 5k fun runs kicked off from Central Park. All four races concluded at Boston College, where supporters lined the route to cheer on participants of all ages and abilities.

The event was officially started by James Bonnell, and kept moving throughout the day with live commentary and support from 107 Endeavour FM, whose presenters Paul, Dave, Ross and Tristan compered from the start lines right through to the final finishers.

Staff from the Princess Royal Sports Arena led dynamic warm-ups in the Market Place, helping runners prepare for their race, while Access Rider Training provided lead bike and outrider support, ensuring safety across the course.

Race Director Kay Bonnell said:

“It’s been an absolutely phenomenal day for Boston. The atmosphere was electric from the early hours right through to the last runner crossing the line. I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part, whether running, cheering, volunteering or supporting behind the scenes.”

“Special thanks go to Boston LGV for donating an articulated trailer to transport runners’ bags, McCartneys Food Service for supplying over 12,000 bottles of water, and Boston Seeds for generously donating the prize money for each race.”

“We’re also incredibly grateful to all our event partners and sponsors – Alarmline Security, HS Physiotherapy, Central Cars – and the local businesses that worked tirelessly to make the day run smoothly including StuWeb, EMATS Medical, Wells Marquees, and Access Rider Training. And of course, a heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers who marshalled, supported and helped deliver such a successful event.”

Plans for expanding the 2026 Boston Marathon UK are already well underway. Among the exciting developments is the launch of the brand-new Boston Running Festival website – designed locally by Good&Proper – which will serve as a central hub for registration, route info, race packs, and much more.
