Update: 16:00 : The A17 road closures following the fatal collision in the early hours of this morning (Thursday 13 March) are expected to remain until at least 9pm this evening.

These are between the Stump Cross Lane junction and Bicker Bar roundabout to Swineshead Bridge.

Lincolnshire Police are working as quickly as they can to get the road reopened, and for now, they ask for your continued patience while they ensure that all the investigation work needed is carried out.


Update: 14:30 – Lincolnshire Police are saddened to report that a man has died following a collision on the A17 at Swineshead near Boston.

The Force Control Room were called at 4.32am this morning (Thursday, 13 March) to a report that a grey Ford Kuga car and a blue HGV had collided close to the junction of Stump Cross Lane.

A third vehicle, a white HGV, is also involved, colliding with debris at the scene.

Sadly, the driver of the car, a 36-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.

The force’s investigation is in the early stages while they work to establish the cause and circumstances of the collision.

There is a significant amount of debris in the road, and both lanes are currently closed between the Stump Cross Lane junction and Bicker Bar roundabout to Swineshead Bridge while this is cleared, and collision investigation work undertaken.

This clean up and investigation work is going to take a significant amount of time to ensure it is completed thoroughly, and the force are advising people to avoid the area until at least 5pm today.
