As Boston faced a major water supply outage caused by power issues over the weekend, a Boston hotel stepped in to support local families in need. With large fresh water storage tanks that ensure consistent supply for their guests, the hotel opened its doors to parents requiring water for infant formula.
Water supplies across Boston were disrupted from approximately 6:30pm on Friday night due to an electrical supply fault at a pump in Sutterton. This caused a widespread loss of water pressure, leaving many households across the region, including outlying villages Kirton, Swineshead, Bicker, Donington, Gosberton, Quadring, Sutterton, Fosdyke and more, without access to running water. Anglian Water worked closely with National Grid engineers to resolve the issue and restore supply to affected areas as quickly as possible.
In response to the disruption, The Quayside Hotel, a multi-award winning hotel located on London Road, Boston, shared the following message on social media:
“If you urgently require water for a child’s formula feed, please bring a bottle to the Quayside and we will be happy to fill it up before 10 pm. We have fresh water storage tanks that service our bedrooms which have limited additional capacity, and we would like to support anyone we can.”
Charlize Arundell, Director of The Quayside Hotel, highlighted the importance of community support during challenging times:
“When essential services are disrupted, it’s crucial to step up and help where you can. Providing fresh water to parents who need it for their children’s formula is the least we could do. We are proud to be part of the Boston community and will always do what we can to assist during difficult times.”
This is not the first time The Quayside Hotel has been at the heart of community spirit. During a major fire on London Road in 2022, which destroyed a block of flats in Charleston Terrace, the hotel opened its doors until 4am, on the hottest day of the year, to provide free emergency accommodation to those affected. The hotel also offered welfare facilities, including showers and refreshments, to firefighters, police officers, and medical staff working tirelessly at the scene.
The hotel’s continued commitment to supporting the local community has been met with widespread appreciation, reinforcing its role as a pillar of care and compassion during emergencies.
