Three Closure Orders were successfully obtained from Boston Magistrates’ Court yesterday (25 February) following evidence being provided to confirm that criminal activity is being undertaken at these premises.
The evidence comes from vital information collated from our communities and proactive Police and Trading Standards’ intelligence-gathering activity.
Boston Neighbourhood Policing Team have been successful in obtaining Closure Orders on:
- Sky Store, 34 High Street, Boston
- Bode, 92 High Street, Boston
- Boston Food Store, 10 Red Lion Street, Boston
These Closure notices fall under Section 80 of the Anti-Social, Crime and Policing Act 2014 for all three premises. The orders will apply for a 3-month period. This means that nobody is allowed access to the premises except for operatives and agents of the utility, postal and emergency services.
Where there is any doubt whether criminal activity will continue, Lincolnshire Police will have no hesitation in applying for Closure extensions. Lincolnshire County Council Trading Standards partners are currently working with landlords to provide a long-term solution once Closure Orders expire. Landlords who receive rent payments derived from criminal activity may also be the subject of investigation.
A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “We will continue to share intelligence between the multiple agencies, conducting joint operations to disrupt illicit supply chains and associated criminality driven by highly organised criminal gangs.
“We ask that should anyone see the premises being entered, to call the Police, as anyone connected to the business who enters the premises will be in contravention of the Closure Order and will be liable to a fine or imprisonment or both. The Closure Orders remain in place until 11.59pm on 24 May 2025.”
