It has been a busy first month of the year, and it has been a very difficult month for some as parts of our constituency was flooded.
My thoughts go to those who have suffered from the damage, and please do not hesitate to get in contact on richard.tice.mp@parliament.uk should you require any advice or help. Our casework team is always on hand.
I have spoke with the EA multiple times and met with the Minister for Water and Flooding Emma Hardy, about how we ensure this does not happen again. Dredging is the answer. They are dredging in Somerset, they can dredge in Lincolnshire. I plan to get an independent expert in for a second opinion to confirm this.
I have spoken 17 times in Parliament in January, and I am one of the most active MPs, amplifying your concerns.
Since July, I have attended most of the Boston Town Board meetings as we strive to improve our local area.
My team and I were out and about on a cold January Saturday morning in Friskney. We knocked on 100s of doors trying to get sign ups to improve wifi connectivity in the area. The area is very close to getting an upgrade but we are still a few sign ups away.
If you live in Friskney, please visit https://www.openreach.com/connect-mycommunity and see if you are eligible. There is no commitment involved, you are simply registering an interest.
As always it was wonderful visiting many small businesses that keep our local economy moving.
Our Post Offices are a vital part to any town and village. With the post office in Boston recently changing and other village post offices getting in touch with their concerns, I have spoken in Parliament and will be writing to the Government about this.
Post offices are more than just letters and parcels. They are the heart of a village and a real community hub. They can have banking services and other vital services. We should be doing all we can to increase what they can offer.
I took part in a Westminster Hall debate on antisocial behaviour, where I stated that Lincolnshire police has the worst funding formula for policing in the UK. News has recently come out that Lincolnshire police will be cutting 100s of officers. This is unacceptable.
I wrote a letter a few months ago supporting Chief Constable Paul Gibson’s call for the need of extra funding. This news is to say the least disappointing, but we will not let this go.
January has been one of the busiest months for national media as I constantly strive to be a ‘national voice for Boston and Skegness’. I have appeared multiple times on BBC, Sky, Talk TV and GB News.
In one instance, I helped a constituent who used to run one of the Vodafone franchises in Skegness. She bravely got in touch with me to talk about how Vodafone completely ruined her life along with 100s of others in the UK by reneging on franchise agreements. I am working with other MPs and my constituents affected to ensure a fair conclusion.
I appeared on Kay Burley’s Sky News show to celebrate the 5 years since Brexit. Boston and Skegness is one of the most Eurosceptic towns in the UK, and I am one of the most Eurosceptic MPs in parliament. Any attempt by Starmer to slide us back into any part of the EU will be met with opposition from myself and the other Reform MPs.
On a more local basis, I appeared on Boston’s 107 Endeavour FM on Friday 7th February.
