Following our reporting on Sunday morning about the closure of Wide Bargate by Lincolnshire Police with a selection of service vehicles surrounding a single vehicle, more information has been published about the incident.

Rumen Rumenov, 24, of no fixed address has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking, criminal damage and other offences in Boston.

Rumenov appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 14 October charged with:

– Aggravated vehicle taking from a property at Larkspur Croft, Boston
– Criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 at Norfolk Place, Boston
– Possession of a controlled drug (Class B) – Amphetamine
– Driving a motor vehicle without a licence
– Using a motor vehicle on a road / public place without third party insurance

He was remanded into custody and is due to appear for a further hearing at Lincoln Crown Court.

The initial story, published on Sunday morning, can be found here. Several police vehicles were seen surrounding a Ford Fiesta at the Wide Bargate exit to Bargate Roundabout at around 7am. Damage was sustained to the front of the Ford Fiesta which was later seen crashed into the hedgerow.
