Plans for three retail units have been granted planning permission at a major development site on the edge of town.
A 0.36-hectare plot of land at The Quadrant development has been granted planning permission by Boston Borough Council.
A planning officer for Boston Borough Council said in the published report: “The proposal will augment the stock of retail outlets in the borough in a sustainable and appropriate location.”
“It will increase economic activity and employment in the borough, and any harm to existing provision will be minor and outweighed by the benefits. The proposal is sound in principle.
“When initially submitted the application envisaged retail or trade counter use on the site, but the proposal was amended following discussions with the land owner and now proposes exclusively retail use which the applicant states will be the sale of non-food comparison goods.”
The Quadrant Development already has a selection of commercial units and Boston United’s Jakemans Community Stadium, such as Burger King, Greggs, Costa and Starbucks drive-thrus, Enterprise Rent A Car and Papa John’s.
Development has recently begun on a new Drayton Motors KIA Showroom, whilst plans for a filling station and EV charging points have also been successfully granted planning permission too.
The proposed opening hours for the units would be 7am-6pm, Monday to Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays. The design and access statement prepared by agent Firstplan on behalf of Ambit Developments explained the layout would be for ‘one block divided into three units’.
These would be 4,000sqft (372sqm), 5,000sqft (465sqm) and 4,000sqft (372sqm).
Plans also include 45 car parking spaces, three disabled parking spaces and four cycle spaces under a shelter.
