Strong winds in Boston have caused a new floodlight at Boston United’s Jakemans Stadium to collapse.

The floodlight snapped as a result of the gusts on Thursday morning.

Boston United can confirm that one of the club’s floodlights sustained wind damage on Thursday morning.

No-one was working in the area - and none of the other structures were affected.

The floodlighting contractors will be carrying out investigations over the coming days - and the Health and Safety Executive have been informed.

No further comment will be made at this stage.

The damage raised questions on social media on whether the structure was fit for purpose. Met Office estimations show winds were as strong as 50mph around the area at peak on Thursday morning, however previously, Boston has had much stronger gusts.
