A popular frozen food retailer has announced intentions to occupy a major unit in the centre of Boston.
Farmfoods have over 300 shops throughout the country, and name themselves the Frozen Food Specialists, stating that their roots are embedded in the distribution and handling of frozen food.
Plans submitted recently to Boston Borough Council indicate the retailer intends to occupy the empty unit on Queen Street Retail Park, currently Bensons for Beds. Plans state that Bensons for Beds will “surrender their lease of the unit in the event the proposal scheme secures planning permission, as part of the company’s agreed Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) which will see the retailer reduce their physical store estate.”
Farmfoods have had a long-standing requirement for a retail store in Boston for over a decade, and have been unable to acquire a suitable unit which meets the company’s operational requirements.
Queen Street Retail Park will provide an opportunity for Farmfoods to establish a trading presence in Boston, delivering positive economic investment into the town and occupying a unit which would otherwise be vacated by the current occupier in the short to medium term.
Farmfoods, as an essential retailer, continue to trade profitably and will secure the long-term occupation of the unit, as well as delivering the creation of approximately 15 new employment positions, the majority of which are expected to be filled by local residents.
