After a day of reported chaos and disruption, with multi-car pile ups, cancelled bus services and children resorting to skating down a major road, at approximately 8pm, gritters were reported to have been sent out to make roads safe.
Local residents have vented their frustration through social media, Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital is reported to be experiencing a larger than normal admission into the Accident and Emergency department.
Social media reports show cars losing control down Sluice Bridge and John Adams Way, with Lincolnshire Police issuing a warning through their Force Control Room Twitter feed stating that Tattershall Road in particular is reported to them as being an issue.
Whilst gritters are now tackling the worsening road conditions, extra care and attention should be taken if you are required to drive through the night and into the morning as temperatures are expected to drop and further snow is on its way, thanks to Storm Darcy.
We're starting to get some RTCs being reported to us now. Canwick Hill in Lincoln is reported to be icy, as is Tattershall Road in Boston. The gritters are out, but care still needed as the temperatures drop tonight.
